Question: What Do the Definitions of "Officer Acceptance" and "Agency Authority" mean?
The legal status definitions of these words have not changed from their usage in SIS. Thus, the definitions for both Officer Acceptance and Agency Authority have the same definitions in SACWIS. These two values were created as legal status options in SACWIS from two of the values within the SIS event 080/082 - Initial Custody/Change in Custody. Your agency may use the same business process for selecting either legal status.
The following definitions are taken directly from the Usage Document from SIS: Officer Acceptance: "Accepting a child from a law enforcement officer or duly authorized officer of the court who took the child into custody pursuant to Rule 6 of the "Ohio Rules of Juvenile Procedure." Agency Authority: "Custody assumed in accordance with requirements of ORC section 2151.31."
